Conference Background: ChinesePopulationGeographic InformationSystem(CPGIS),is an international academic community, which was initiatedby Chinese scholars at home and abroad related to GIS in 1992 in the State University of New York at Buffalo, aiming tostrengtheninformation exchanges and cooperation between scholars andscientistsat home and abroadengaged ingeographic information science. Currently, ithas a membership of hundreds of people, mainly in North America, East Asia, Europe and Australia.In2016, invitedby Changsha Universityof Science and Technology,CPGIS organize 12 experts to give lecturesinHunan to explore GIS / RS / GPS technology in water conservancy, transportation and other aspects of geographic information.
