CSUST Delegation Tours Russian and Georgian Universities

(13-20, November)

The CSUST delegation led byMr. Fu Hongyuan, University Council Chair of CSUST visited Russian andGeorgianuniversities and friendly organizations for talent internationalization and possible scopes of cooperation, echoing the Belt and Road Initiative in the Central and Eastern Europe region.

(13-15, November), In St. Petersburg, Russia, the delegation attended the Sino-Russian Transportation University Alliance Forum where Mr. Fu made a keynote speech on behalf of CSUST, pledging in answer the call of Belt and Road Initiative and Europe-Asia Economic Union Strategy. In the closing session of the forum, Mr. Fu signed on the joint statement with other present alliance universities.

(16, November) In Tbilisi,Georgia, the delegation was greeted by Archil Prangishivile, academician of Georgia’s National Academy of Engineering, Rector of Georgia Institute of Technology. The two sides agreed to form a working group, linking up joint engineering talent training with each other.

Later in the day, the CSUST delegation was well received by Levan Kharatishvili, vice minister of Ministry of Georgian culture, Technology and education. The two sides renewed the long cherished friendship between the two countries, exchanged education development experience over the years, and had reached a consensus to set Changsha University of Science and Technology a leading example amongst Georgia-China higher institution cooperation.

(17, November) At theGeorgia-China Friendly Exchange Association,the delegationwas received by Ivane Chkhartishvili, former vice prime minister of Georgia, and head of the Association. The two parties discussed possible people-to-people exchange and educational collaboration.

(19, November)

CSUST delegation visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University at the invitation of Tornike Rizhvadze, president of Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Georgia, and met with Merab Khalvashi, the university president. This visit marked the crucial step the university is taking to set up China-Georgia engineering and technical talents at the backdrop of Belt and Road development blueprint. Both representatives concluded the meeting by signing an education collaboration MoU and later met the local press.
